AIST>Network Database System for Thermophysical Property Data

Network Database System for Thermophysical Property Data is developed and run by AIST, and is available for free. Thermophysical properties data (ex. Thermal conductivity, thermal diffusivity, heat capacity, density, surface tension and vapor pressure) for liquid, solid and melts are stored in this database.

Newly released data 2017/04/05

147 data were newly released on 5, Apr. 2017. Users can browse these data on the TPDS-web for free with out any registration. The data for Thermal condutivity and Thermoelectric proeprty such as seebeck coeffiient and power factor of Al-doped ZnO (AZO) were released. The data for thermal conductivity, density, young's modulus and specific heat capasity of amorhpus carbon thin film were also released. Thermophysical property of fundamental materials such as sapphire single crysta, graphite, and bulk metals were newly available.

Short notes related to new released data:

<Al-doped Zinc oxide(ZnO), so-called "AZO">
AZO has various excellent characters. Trancemittance in the visible light range is 80% or more, and the electrical conductivity is high. Zn element of AZO has no toxic and no concerns for the depletion of resource. The data for thermal conductivity, thermal diffusivity, seebeck coefficient, power factor, and hall mobility of bulk Al-doped ZnO are available.
Transport property basically is sensitive to impurities in the mateial. In the data, researchers studied the dependence of properties on the concentration of Al in ZnO.

<Amorhus carbon thin film>
One of amorpuhs carbon thin film is diamod like carbon(DLC) film, and DLC film with execellent mechanical properties are available in the field of manufactureing. Though DLC film are famous, these series of released data are not defined as DLC but also as "amorphous carbon". Thermal conductivity, density, young's modulus, and specific heat capacity for amorphous carbon thin films are available.

<Sapphire singcle crystal >
Sapphire is single crystal of Al2O3, and widely applied in the field of research and development. For example, Heteroepitaxial GaN thin films which is well known as a component of light emitting diode are grown on the C-plane sapphire substrate. It's a new things to remenber, the Nobel prize in 2014 was given to the develpment of blue color LED using GaN. It is well known that various heteroepitaxial films can be grown on c-, a-, and r-palen sapphire single crystal substrate, today. The thermophysical property measurement for thin film fabricated on the substrate requires the reliable thermophysical proeprty of substrate. 2014, Hofmeister published reliable data of thermal diffusivity of single crystal sapphire along to c- and a-axis. The reported values at room temperature were 20% less then that calculated thermal diffusivity values from thermal conductivity values recommended in TPRC data series. We specially thanks to Hofmeister's good work.

<Thermophysical properties of fundamental material>
TPRC data series are well known as the reliable data book, but 40 and more years has passed since publication of the data books in1970's. Mesurement techniques and Instruments developes day by day during 40 years. The method of describing Uncertainty of measurement, so-called Guide to the Expression of Uncertainty in Measurement, was published in 1993. We think it time to rebulid the recommnded data in the TPRC data series. As a first step, thermophysical properties data involved in TPRC data series has been collected in our database called TPDS in order to prepare for re-evaluatiion of recommended value. Thermophysical property data for molybdenum, graphite and Tungsten are newly available.
